Manish Mehta Grant for Nocturnal Avian Ecology Research and Awareness:

 

The GNN Micro Grant for Nightjar Research honours the memory of Mr. Manish Mehta, whose lifelong passion for nature, education, and learning continues to inspire upcoming generations. This micro-grant aims to nurture young researchers and students exploring the ecology, behaviour, and conservation of nocturnal birds, especially nightjars (family Caprimulgidae).

A collaboration between the Global Nightjar Network (GNN) and Kshitij Foundation, India, the grant promotes local field-based research, conservation communication, and awareness about nocturnal birds.

  • Currently, the grant is open only for projects within India.

  • During the initial phase, applicants must be Indian citizens or based in India with valid Indian banking facilities.​

  • The project must be India-based (Phase 1) and aligned with the annual theme, if applicable.

  • Age limit: Applicants must be under 35 years at the time of submission.

  • Applicants must be students, early-career researchers, or NGOs with a demonstrated interest in ornithology, ecology, or nature education.
